CE tracking software for engineers and architects: PDH and HSW
Quick answer
SealBench is continuing education tracking software for engineering and architecture firms. It counts each engineer’s PDH and each architect’s HSW hours against the rule of every state they’re licensed in, with required topics and limits, for everyone on the roster. It covers engineers and architects only: other professions get date tracking but no state CE rules.
What it covers
- Engineers (PDH): 50 states and DC. 29 jurisdictions in our data want 30 PDH every two years; others want 24, 20, 18 or 16 every two years, 15 a year or 36 every three years, and 8 want none. 21 require ethics hours.
- Architects (HSW): 50 states and DC. 15 jurisdictions ask for 12 HSW hours a year and 26 for 24 every two years. Accessibility and sustainable-design hours count inside the HSW total, and an AIA learning unit counts as one hour.
- Not yet confirmed. The rules cite each board’s own rules and pages, but haven’t been confirmed with each board; the architect rules haven’t been checked against the rule text at all. Every card that uses one says so; check with the board before you rely on it.
- Honest gaps. When a state has a requirement SealBench can’t count yet, the card names it so you check it yourself.
How it works
- Course log import: bring a CSV or Excel log. SealBench finds the header row, reads dates and hours written different ways, matches names to people on the roster, and lists any row it can’t use by row number.
- Per license: each license card shows hours earned, hours needed, required topics and the end of the CE period for that state.
- For the whole firm: the person who keeps the roster sees everyone’s CE in one place, next to license dates and firm COAs.
- Reminders: Reminders at 90, 60 and 30 days before each license, firm registration and CE deadline are coming soon.

A firm pays $12 a month for each licensed person it tracks (or $120 a year), billed for at least 3; office staff who aren’t licensed sign in free. Common questions
Which professions does the CE tracking cover?
Engineers (PDH) and architects (HSW), with state rules for all 50 states and DC. Landscape architects, land surveyors and interior designers get license date tracking, but SealBench has no state CE rules for them yet.
Does SealBench report CE to the board?
No. It counts the hours so each person knows where they stand. The licensee certifies CE at renewal.
Can we import the course log we already keep?
Yes, as CSV or Excel. Names are matched to people already on the roster, and any row SealBench can’t read is listed by row number.
