PE CE and PDH tracking for the whole firm

Tracking PDH for a firm means counting each engineer’s hours against every state they’re licensed in, because the totals, required topics, limits and periods differ by state. Why PDH tracking across multiple states gets complicated
- Different totals. 29 jurisdictions in our data want 30 PDH every two years. Others want 24, 20, 18 or 16 every two years, 15 a year, or 36 every three years. 8 want none.
- Required topics. 21 jurisdictions require ethics hours, and some require state laws and rules. Enough total hours doesn’t cover a missing topic.
- Limits. Many states cap self-study, society service, teaching or publications at a few hours a period.
- Carryover and first renewals. Some states let extra hours carry over; others don’t. New licensees are often exempt the first time, but not everywhere.
- One course, several states. An engineer licensed in five states needs one course log checked five ways.

NCEES CPC Tracking and SealBench
NCEES CPC Tracking is free for any engineer or surveyor with a MyNCEES account. The engineer uploads course certificates, compares them with each state’s requirement, and can send reports to state boards electronically (NCEES page, read Sep 29, 2026). If you are one engineer keeping your own hours, it is a good free option.
