Continuing education (PDH)

Hours: 15 PDH every year. Annual. Every PE must earn 15 PDH in each 12-month (annual) renewal period, which ends at the license's annual expiry. Reporting: Renewal applications include a CE summary log form. The board randomly audits registrants, who must then submit the log signed and certified (Rule 180-11-.06, 180-11-.10; O.C.G.A. 43-15-6(b)). Firm rule

A firm offering engineering in Georgia needs its own credential from the board: Certificate of Authorization (COA). Every firm, corporation, professional corporation, partnership, association, LLC or other entity that practices or offers engineering in Georgia must get a Certificate of Authorization from the board before practicing (O.C.G.A. 43-15-23, as the board states it). One or more of its principals, officers, members or partners, and all personnel who practice for it, must be registered PEs; this also applies to Georgia branch offices of out-of-state firms.

Firm renewal: COAs expire June 30 of even-numbered years unless renewed.
